At the heart of The Shack is Chrissy Shipp, a passionate hospitality professional with a remarkable journey spanning decades. Chrissy’s career began at just 13 years old, diving into the hospitality world with a focus on mastering every aspect of the industry. From front-of-house service to back-of-house expertise, Chrissy has done it all.
After earning her chef qualification, Chrissy took her culinary skills to the high seas, working on an incredible range of vessels—from private superyachts to oil and gas rigs, and even tourism charters. No matter the setting, Chrissy’s dedication to creating unforgettable dining experiences set her apart.
In 2018, Chrissy returned to her roots in Exmouth, opening The Beach Shack at Bundegi Beach, a beloved local hotspot that became synonymous with delicious food and warm hospitality. Her return home was driven by a desire to bring Exmouth a unique dining experience, blending her love for fresh, bold flavours with the vibrant community spirit of her hometown.

From Beachside Beginnings to a Fresh New Era
In 2018 The Shack’s story began as the Beach Shack, located out at Bundegi Beach in a shed leased from the nearby defence base. For over four years, we were the only café in Exmouth offering a truly unique dining experience—right on the beach! Serving up breakfast, lunch, special evening meals, and private functions, the Beach Shack quickly became a favourite spot for locals and holidaymakers soaking up the beauty of the Ningaloo Reef.
In 2023, our lease at Bundegi ended, and we relocated into town, carrying with us the same good vibes and passion for great food. After a successful first season, we decided it was time to evolve. Enter The Shack Mexican Kitchen—a fresh, bold direction for our brand, offering something completely new to Exmouth. With a menu inspired by Mexican flavours and the casual beachside culture that defines our community, we’re here to provide the ultimate spot for locals to hang out and visitors to unwind.
